Amazon reader review of ”Esther! a true story”:
You’ll love Esther: larger than life but grounded in her own truth; buffeted by trauma but defying all expectations of defeat. Sandra Broman is a clever artist and storyteller, nailing Esther’s exuberant joie de vivre as well as the sheer strength and grit of her spirit. This is an epic yet very human tale about a life lived so fully that it sometimes bursts apart. Broman skilfully navigates through complex and sensitive material, using the graphic novel format to great effect. I zoomed through this book fully engaged, hardly realising how much I was learning about feminism, queer culture, Chilean socialism, American imperialism and redemptive immigration. Broman tackles Esther’s story with humour, warmth and great respect. Highly recommended.
